OUR HISTORY
THE BEGINNING
We began brewing kombucha more than 10 years ago in the United States, where we fell in love with this effervescent drink in its most authentic form. We became obsessed with knowing everything we could about the best practices of brewing and second fermentation, about its origin, and of course the multitude of health benefits.
2016 – THE MOVE
When we came to Europe in 2016 we knew that our beloved SCOBY would be coming too. We made sure to package her up with just enough liquid to make it through security in our carry-on snack bag and one of our first stops upon our arrival was to get a brewing vessel and everything necessary to get a new brew started.
SCOBY THE NOMAD
Since then our SCOBY has been carefully attended to all over Europe, including in the pre-alps of northern Italy where the dream to start sharing our brew began and where the name, San Primo Brewing, was born. It was at the foot of this mountain that we designed our logo and let our dreams run wild. SCOBY has been a world traveler, visiting an exciting list of countries like Spain, Italy, France, Portugal, and more!
2019 – THE LOCKDOWN
A global lockdown and the years of uncertainty that followed would see this dream be put on hold, but not pushed out of our minds. We worked to brainstorm ways to continue cultivating our Kombucha process and our dream to make our Kombucha Brewing Business a reality.
TODAY
Nowadays, we’ve landed here on the beautiful Island of Madeira, where we are blessed to be able to share our family run passion project with all of you!
